DB HiTech posts 43% profit rise on 8‑inch fab boom
DB HiTech Co., Ltd. reported Q2 2024 revenue of 4.145 trillion won and operating profit of 1.052 trillion won, marking year‑on‑year increases of 23% and 43% respectively. The operating margin reached 25%, driven by strong demand for power‑semiconductor, image‑sensor and display‑driver chips used in AI data‑centers, robotics and drones.
The company benefitted from a shortage in 8‑inch wafer capacity after Samsung Electronics and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) reduced their legacy‑fab output, allowing DB HiTech to run its 8‑inch lines at full capacity and raise prices. Chinese sales accounted for about 62% of revenue, and DB HiTech plans to continue capacity expansion and further price adjustments in the second half of the year.
