DB InfraGO extends rail maintenance contract with Vossloh

DB InfraGO has extended its framework agreement with Vossloh AG for another year to conduct preventive rail maintenance. Since 2023, the partnership has utilized High Speed Grinding (HSG) technology to process approximately 40,000 kilometers of track within Deutsche Bahn’s high-traffic network.

A key advantage of the HSG technology is that maintenance can be performed during regular operating schedules without requiring track closures. This approach has already yielded over 4,800 hours of additional network capacity. Furthermore, regular preventive machining can extend the lifespan of rails by up to 100%, reduce the need for future construction or speed restrictions, and lower noise emissions by up to ten decibels.

The maintenance process is supported by Vossloh’s digital applications, which facilitate partially automated planning, analysis, and documentation. These systems include laser measurements of longitudinal profiles, monitoring of transverse profiles, and crack detection using eddy current probes to create a data-driven maintenance system.
