DB Regio secures long-term S-Bahn contract in Rhine-Main region

The Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV) has awarded the operation of S-Bahn lines S3, S4, S5, and S6 to DB Regio. Following a routine re-tendering process, the company will continue to operate these four lines beyond the current contract expiration in December 2033, extending service until the end of 2055.

Knut Ringat, Chairman of the RMV management, stated that the decision ensures planning security and maintains the S-Bahn as the most used mode of transport in and around Frankfurt. Hendrik Penner, Chairman of S-Bahn Rhein-Main, noted that the contract secures more than 300 jobs and provides a long-term perspective for developing the lines between Darmstadt, Frankfurt, and Friedberg.
