DBGT handles record 168 OOG TEUs in a day at India's Tuticorin VOC Port
Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal (DBGT) successfully handled and delivered 168 out‑of‑gauge (OOG) TEUs from the vessel M.V. Sprinter on 6 June 2026 at V. O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port, Tuticorin. "The achievement marks the highest volume of OOG cargo ever handled by a container vessel in the history of VOC Port," surpassing the previous record of 126 OOG TEUs set in August 2023.
All containers were discharged, processed and delivered on the same day, reflecting meticulous planning, coordinated operations among terminal staff, shipping lines, customs and logistics partners, and the use of specialized equipment and safety protocols. The milestone reinforces Tuticorin’s role as a strategic gateway for project and oversized cargo moving between India and major Asian manufacturing hubs, supporting sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, and heavy engineering.
