DBS PayLah! launches QR payments in Taiwan

DBS has become the first Singaporean bank to connect its customers to Taiwan’s mobile QR code payment system. Through the DBS PayLah! app, more than three million users can now make payments at over 250,000 merchants across Taiwan, including eateries, shops, and night markets.

The service utilizes the Taiwan QR Code (TWQR) network, which currently covers approximately two-thirds of participating merchants. Users can scan eligible codes from providers such as iPass Money, Taiwan Pay, PXPay Plus, and Easy Wallet. The app displays the amount in Taiwan dollars, the exchange rate, and the final amount in Singapore dollars for review before the transaction is confirmed.

There are no additional service fees for this feature, though standard currency conversion rates apply. This expansion follows DBS’s existing QR payment coverage in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and China. The bank also plans to expand coverage in 2027 to include more providers, such as JKO Pay.
