DC Comics expands Batman universe with new series and events

DC Comics is expanding its Batman universe through two distinct narrative directions. The Absolute Batman series, set in an alternate universe, features redesigned villains such as a monstrous Joker, a zombie-like Mr. Freeze, and a physically massive Bane. In this continuity, many of Batman's enemies are reimagined as childhood friends, and characters like Black Mask operate as agents within Gotham's power structures.

Simultaneously, a new major event titled Batman: Bad Seeds has launched with the issue Sunset #1. Written by Matt Fraction and G. Willow Wilson, the story explores a power struggle in Gotham City where Vandal Savage serves as Commissioner while Poison Ivy holds the office of mayor.
