DC Studios and HBO Cancel Booster Gold TV Series

Writer and showrunner‑to‑be David Jenkins announced on Threads that the planned HBO series “Booster Gold” will not be moving forward. He quoted Mahershala Ali’s remarks about Marvel’s stalled “Blade” film and wrote, “My ‘Booster Gold’ won’t be moving forward.”

The series was announced in 2023 as part of DC Studios’ new DCU slate unveiled by co‑CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. It was to follow time‑travelling hero Michael “Booster” Carter and was slated for HBO under the “Gods and Monsters” chapter of the franchise. Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and other outlets reported that HBO decided to cancel the project as part of strategic adjustments to the DCU content schedule.

DC Studios and HBO have not issued a comment. Some reports suggest the series could be revived later with a different creative team, but the version Jenkins was developing is definitively halted.
