DC Studios cancels several projects in ‘Gods and Monsters’ chapter
DC Studios is undergoing significant changes within its first chapter, titled ‘Gods and Monsters’. Several projects initially announced by CEO James Gunn have been cancelled or sidelined. Among the abandoned projects are ‘The Authority’, which was reportedly dropped due to an unsatisfactory script, and ‘Booster Gold’, which has yet to find its place in the cinematic universe. Additionally, the project ‘Paradise Lost’, intended to explore Amazonian history, has been removed from the slate.
These cancellations impact several key cast members, including Viola Davis, who will not reprise her role as Amanda Waller in the cancelled ‘Waller’ project. However, ongoing productions such as ‘Man of Tomorrow’ and ‘Creature Commandos’ appear unaffected.
Regarding the series ‘Lanterns’, co-creator Damon Lindelof addressed speculation about the potential return of Hal Jordan for a second season. Following the character's death in the first season, Lindelof stated that the creative team intends to avoid ‘cheapening’ the emotional impact of the story by using narrative devices like clones to undo the character's definitive death.
