DC Studios leaders to remain through 2027 amid Paramount-Warner merger

James Gunn and Peter Safran are expected to remain at the helm of DC Studios until their current contracts expire in spring 2027, following the merger between Paramount/Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery. While insiders suggest the companies may not renew their contracts once they expire, both executives are currently positioned to continue their leadership of the DC Universe.

Addressing rumors regarding production delays, James Gunn denied that any DC projects, including ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’, have been paused due to the merger. He clarified that no work within the DCU is currently suspended. The $110 billion merger is currently facing antitrust legal challenges in California, with a trial scheduled for March 2027.
