DC Studios may fast-track Green Lantern movie after Lanterns success
Following the viewership success of the HBO series Lanterns, rumors are circulating that DC Studios may fast-track a Green Lantern feature film. Speculation suggests the film could focus on characters John Stewart and Guy Gardner, potentially offering a more cosmic tone compared to the grounded, True Detective-inspired aesthetic of the television series.
While a writers' room for a second season of the show has reportedly been active for over a month, creative leadership may change. Damon Lindelof is expected to depart after his initial agreement, and Tom King may also not return to the writing team.
The series has faced criticism from comic book fans for its departure from established lore. Critics and readers have noted that the show draws more heavily from genres like Westerns and crime dramas than from the original Green Lantern Corps comic book material.
