DC Studios podcast hosts face backlash over ‘Lanterns’ controversy

The DC Studios official podcast is facing significant backlash following controversial remarks made by co-host Coy Jandreau regarding critics of the series ‘Lanterns’. In a video discussing social media trolls and detractors, Jandreau made several inflammatory statements, including suggesting that certain people ‘can choke on their own tongues’ and questioning whether he would save the lives of people he perceives as ‘idiots’.

This controversy follows previous criticism directed at host Frankey Smith, who was accused of dismissing fans who disagreed with her characterization of Hal Jordan. The series ‘Lanterns’ has become a point of contention among the fanbase due to its creative direction, specifically regarding the portrayal of iconic characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Critics argue the show deviates significantly from comic book source material by altering the process of how characters obtain Green Lantern rings and changing the established personalities of the protagonists.
