DC Studios releases new details for horror film Clayface
DC Studios has released new details and a trailer for its upcoming psychological body-horror film, “Clayface,” scheduled for theatrical release on October 23, 2026. Directed by James Watkins and featuring a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, the film serves as the third installment in James Gunn’s DC Universe (Chapter One: Gods and Monsters).
The story follows Matt Hagen (played by Tom Rhys Harries), a rising Hollywood star who is brutally disfigured by a local crime boss. Seeking to restore his appearance, Hagen undergoes an experimental procedure that successfully restores his face but triggers a terrifying transformation into the shape-shifting villain known as Clayface. The film aims for a more grounded, grotesque horror tone compared to traditional superhero fare.
Advance tickets for the film went on sale on October 7, 2026. While marketing has intentionally avoided showing the character’s full monstrous form to maintain mystery, recent teasers and theater standees have provided glimpses of the transformation. The production features a cast including Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, and Eddie Marsan.
