DC Studios unveils Joker: Laugh Riot anime series at Annecy
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation announced three new animated projects during the World’s Finest Animation showcase at the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The slate includes the anime series Joker: Laugh Riot, directed by Yasuhiro Aoki and executive‑produced by Jim Krieg, which follows the Joker after Batman’s murder and explores his identity crisis. Absolute Batman reimagines Bruce Wayne as a working‑class hero stripped of his mansion and resources, while an untitled series starring Krypto the Superdog, led by executive producer C. H. Greenblatt, will focus on the canine’s interactions with a group of mischievous animals. The announcements were made by DC Studios co‑CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran and Warner Bros. Animation president Sam Register, with production duties shared between Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios and SOLA Entertainment. No distribution platform has been confirmed.
