DC Virunga and other African clubs advance in CAF competitions

Several African football clubs have secured advancement to the second preliminary rounds of CAF continental competitions.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, DC Virunga of the Democratic Republic of the Congo defeated Seychelles' Bazar Brothers 1-0 in a single-leg match held in Pretoria. The decisive goal was scored by Gaga Yenga. The FECOFA federation has formally contested the decision by CAF to convert the fixture into a single match after Bazar Brothers failed to appear for the first leg in Lubumbashi due to cited health reasons. DC Virunga will face Primeiro de Agosto in the next round.

In the CAF Champions League, Senegal's Teungueth FC advanced after defeating FC Canchungo with a 2-0 aggregate score. They are set to face Cameroon's Colombe Sportive du Dja et Lobo, who progressed after a 4-3 penalty shootout victory against Stade Malien following a 0-0 draw.

Additionally, Horoya AC of Guinea secured their place in the second round by overturning a first-leg deficit to beat Algeria's JS Saoura 3-1 in Conakry. The match was decided by late goals from Morlaye Sylla and Salif Koulibaly, setting up a clash against Sudan's Al-Merrikh.
