DCCC expands ‘Red to Blue’ program with five new candidates

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has expanded its ‘Red to Blue’ program, adding five candidates running in districts that Donald Trump won during the 2024 election. The program provides organizational and fundraising support to Democratic candidates competing in unfavorable political terrain.

Among the new additions is former Congressman Tom Perriello, who is running for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District against Republican John McGuire. The district, which includes Charlottesville and Lynchburg, was won by Trump by over 12 points in 2024.

Other candidates added to the program include Zach Dembo in Kentucky’s 6th District, Leela Gray in Florida’s 13th District, Matt Dunlap in Maine’s 2nd District, and Nancy Lacore in South Carolina’s 1st District. The selection includes seats categorized by the Cook Political Report as ‘likely Republican’ or ‘solid Republican’.
