D’CENT App Wallets compromised in $20 million XRP theft

Between September 15 and September 20, attackers stole approximately 11.7 million XRP from thousands of D’CENT App Wallets. The theft, valued at nearly $20 million, was carried out in six coordinated waves using stolen keys and automated scripts.

Forensic analysis indicates that the attack targeted 6,678 wallets. The perpetrators used a combination of manual transfers and automated scripts to drain funds, even deleting 5,001 accounts to claim remaining reserves. The stolen assets were rapidly moved through various services, including conversion to Ethereum via THORChain and transfers through exchanges like Binance.

D’CENT confirmed the unusual activity and clarified that while the App Wallets were compromised, the company’s hardware wallets were not affected. Users have been advised to move their funds immediately to secure their assets.
