DC's 'Lanterns' Series Set for HBO Max Premiere with Hal Jordan and John Stewart

A trailer for the upcoming HBO Max series "Lanterns" was unveiled at San Diego Comic‑Con, showcasing Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) confronting a cosmic conspiracy involving the Manhunters. The eight‑episode series, produced by Damon Lindelof, Tom King, Chris Mundy and DC Studios co‑CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, will debut on August 16.

Originally, the project was planned around a broader Green Lantern lineup including Alan Scott, Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz. The final version instead ages Hal Jordan into a veteran mentor, positioning John Stewart as an unproven rookie, a creative choice highlighted by the creators during the panel.
