De Beers unveils Desert Diamonds Icons at Las Vegas show, highlighting community-focused ‘Fifth C’ sustainability
At the JCK Las Vegas jewellery exhibition, De Beers Group announced the launch of Desert Diamonds Icons, a new line of four iconic jewellery designs – stud earrings, eternity band, tennis bracelet and halo pendant. The initiative builds on the Desert Diamonds "beacon" campaign, which has the industry's largest natural‑diamond marketing budget in 15 years and has already driven a 4% rise in US independent retailer sales in Q4 2025 and a 9% rise in Q1 2026. De Beers urged retailers to stock the new Icons and join the geo‑targeted Promoboxx program to boost demand for natural diamonds amid growing competition from synthetic stones.
Parallel sessions at the same event, hosted by Botswana and Angola – two major diamond‑producing nations – focused on the industry's emerging "Fifth C" of Communities. Participants discussed how diamond revenues are being used for education, health care, infrastructure and employment, and highlighted new traceability technologies that link stones to their social impact. The conversations underscored a shift toward greater transparency and sustainability in the natural‑diamond sector.
Overall, the Las Vegas show saw strong US exhibitor participation and a renewed emphasis on community impact and traceability as the industry seeks to differentiate natural diamonds from lab‑grown alternatives.
