DE-CIX expands internet exchange connectivity in Bulgaria and the United States

Internet exchange operator DE-CIX has announced significant infrastructure expansions in both Europe and North America. In Bulgaria, the company has connected the BIX.BG exchange point in Sofia to its networks in Frankfurt and Istanbul. This new connectivity offers low-latency access, with delays under 35 milliseconds to Frankfurt and under 12 milliseconds to Istanbul. The expansion allows Balkan networks to access cloud and AI services more efficiently and provides Istanbul with direct access to the Balkan hub.

In the United States, DE-CIX is expanding its partnership with Digital Realty. The collaboration will allow customers at 22 additional Digital Realty facilities in Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Phoenix to access DE-CIX services via Metro Connect. This move nearly doubles the joint footprint of the two companies in the U.S. and increases their global footprint by 25%, facilitating easier access to peering, cloud, and AI connectivity across major North American interconnection markets.
