DE-CIX implements georedundant Azure connectivity for AI workloads

DE-CIX has implemented Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute Metro connectivity across five of its Cloud and AI Exchanges, spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. The initial live sites include New York, Frankfurt, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Singapore.

The new architecture utilizes a dual-homed approach, connecting each site to two distinct ExpressRoute locations within the same metropolitan area. This design is intended to prevent single-path failures from disrupting connections, providing high availability for latency-sensitive applications such as AI inference and real-time analytics.

This rollout increases DE-CIX’s total Azure on-ramps to 29 across 24 cities globally. Through DE-CIX’s global backbone, remote access to these connections can be extended to more than 600 data center locations worldwide.
