De la Espriella Lawyers ordered to pay fine for tax errors

The Administrative Tribunal of Cundinamarca has upheld a ruling against De la Espriella Lawyers, a firm founded by President Abelardo De la Espriella. The court ordered the firm to pay COP 571 million for failing to provide accurate information in its 2018 income tax declaration.

The legal dispute centers on a COP 3 billion contract signed in November 2018. According to the tribunal, the firm failed to declare the Value Added Tax (IVA) associated with this contract. This decision confirms a previous 2023 ruling by a Bogotá Administrative Court, upholding sanctions originally imposed by the Directorate of Taxes and Customs (DIAN).
