De Ronde Venen allocates €500,000 for starter home loans
The municipality of De Ronde Venen has allocated an additional €500,000 to its Startersleningen (Starter Loans) fund. This decision follows a significant surge in loan applications over recent years.
Historically, the municipality issued an average of eleven starter loans per year through 2025. However, that number rose to 24 in 2025, and 30 applications were already received in the first six months of 2026. Local authorities attribute this increase to a higher supply of affordable new-build homes priced below the National Mortgage Guarantee (Nationale Hypotheek Garantie) limit of €470,000.
The loan, provided in collaboration with the Stichting Stimuleringsfonds Volkshuisvesting Nederlandse gemeenten (SVn), serves as a supplement to traditional mortgages to assist first-time buyers in financing their homes. The additional funding aims to ensure that eligible applicants can continue to access these loans without the fund being depleted.
