De Ronde Venen peat cutting machine restored

A historic peat cutting machine in De Ronde Venen has been restored following a complex technical overhaul. The project addressed severe structural issues caused by rust, which had compromised the safety of the machine’s understructure.

To complete the restoration, the tower and various components were disassembled. The work was carried out across multiple locations, including workshops and the machine itself, involving specialists such as Willem Börger of Börger Konstruktiewerken. Additionally, a 102-year-old Brons engine required significant maintenance to ensure it was operational for the Open Monumentendag event.
