De Wilp neighborhood party explosion leaves eight injured
Approximately eight people were injured during a neighborhood party in De Wilp on Saturday, September 26, following a sudden flash fire involving a fire basket. The incident occurred around 9:45 PM during a community gathering intended to strengthen local ties.
Reports suggest the explosion may have been triggered when a flammable liquid, possibly ethanol, was thrown onto the fire basket. The resulting flare-up caused several individuals to sustain burns. Witnesses noted that some victims ran into nearby homes to use showers for immediate first aid.
Emergency services responded with a large-scale presence, including multiple ambulances and a trauma helicopter. At least two victims were transported directly to the hospital for treatment. Local police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the incident and have reportedly collected evidence, including a jerrycan, for further examination.
