DEA informant provides new testimony in Paco Stanley murder case

Jorge Godoy López, a former judicial agent and DEA protected witness, has resurfaced in Mexico City to provide new testimony regarding the 1999 murder of television host Paco Stanley. His statements, featured in the documentary ‘Testigos: la verdad tiene voz. Caso Paco Stanley’, aim to clarify the circumstances of the crime that occurred outside a restaurant in Mexico City.

Godoy identifies Carlos Acevedo, known as ‘El Pato’, as the alleged physical perpetrator of the shooting. He further claims that the murder was ordered by Juan José Esparragoza Moreno, alias ‘El Azul’, and suggests the motive was linked to a failed $4 million money laundering operation.

Godoy, who spent over 20 years in the United States due to death threats from organized crime and authorities, stated he intends to cooperate with the Mexican Attorney General's Office to finally resolve the case. He emphasized that his goal is to tell the truth and clear his conscience, noting that he had previously reported the incident to superiors while working as an informant.
