DEA opens forensic laboratory in New Hampshire

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has inaugurated a modern forensic laboratory in Londonderry, New Hampshire. This facility serves as a regional hub designed to expand and accelerate the analysis of chemical samples and fingerprints related to narcotics investigations across the northeastern United States.

The laboratory is capable of processing more than 20,000 samples annually. It aims to strengthen forensic capabilities to identify emerging threats, specifically addressing the rise of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and other synthetic drugs affecting the New England region and northern New York.

Frank Tarentino, the DEA's Deputy Chief of Operations in the Northeast, stated that the opening represents a significant advancement in supporting narcotics investigations. By providing rapid identification of substances and their compositions, the lab will offer critical scientific evidence for prosecutors and real-time intelligence to track overdose trends and illegal drug market shifts.
