DEA warns of drug traffickers targeting youth via social media
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is warning parents about the increasing use of social media by drug traffickers to target children and young adults. Traffickers are utilizing online platforms to sell illegal substances, which can be delivered as discreetly as food or clothing orders.
To combat this, the DEA Omaha Division has launched a video series titled ‘Hidden on your kids phone’ to provide parents and guardians with resources and information to recognize illicit activity on mobile devices. Assistant Special Agent in Charge Rafael Mattei emphasized that these digital transactions may appear innocuous to adults, making parental awareness essential.
