Dead by Daylight to test Denuvo Anti-Cheat on Steam

Behaviour Interactive is launching a new initiative called ‘Anti-Cheat Trials’ to improve security in Dead by Daylight. Starting September 2, the Steam version of the game will temporarily replace Easy Anti-Cheat with Denuvo Anti-Cheat to evaluate its effectiveness in flagging cheating behaviors such as speedhacks and wallhacks.

The studio noted that this decision follows community feedback regarding the prevalence of cheaters. The trial is intended to gather hard data and player feedback to determine the best long-term solution for the game.

Behaviour Interactive clarified that Denuvo Anti-Cheat is distinct from Denuvo Anti-Piracy (DRM) and that no anti-piracy mechanisms will be tested during this period. The trial is exclusive to the Steam version, though cross-play will remain active. The developer has confirmed that compatibility with Steam Deck and Proton on Linux will continue to be supported.
