Dead Dolphin Calves Found Near Primorsko After Bulgarian Navy Exercise

Fishermen and divers reported the deaths of a group of dolphin calves off the coast of Primorsko, Bulgaria. The carcasses were discovered following the Bulgarian Navy's "Breeze 2026" training exercise, which involved ships, drones and aircraft conducting underwater detonations to clear mines and simulate attacks in the Black Sea. Local diver Silvia Rashkova recorded eleven dead calves on the seafloor, linking the incident to recent military activity. Fisherman Petar Vasilev blamed the navy for the fatalities, noting that similar mortalities have appeared after previous drills and that diver operations are often restricted during exercises.

Authorities have been unable to perform autopsies because the bodies have begun to decompose. The incident has raised concerns among environmental activists and prompted calls for an investigation into the impact of naval exercises on marine wildlife.
