Deadlock surpasses Team Fortress 2 player record on Steam

Valve’s unannounced MOBA, Deadlock, has reached a new peak of 262,145 concurrent players on Steam. This milestone, recorded on October 9, surpasses the previous all-time record held by Team Fortress 2, which peaked at 253,997 players in July 2023.

Despite being in an invite-only testing phase since August 2024, Deadlock has climbed the ranks of Valve’s most popular titles. It now holds the third-highest all-time concurrency for the studio, trailing only Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2.

The surge in player numbers follows the ‘City Never Sleeps’ update and the introduction of new heroes. The recent addition of Solomon, a chess-themed wizard, coincided with the record-breaking peak, though data suggests the growth was a gradual climb following several character releases.
