Deadly vehicle collisions claim seven lives in Brazil

A three‑vehicle crash on a state highway between Nova Olímpia and Barra do Bugres in Mato Grosso on Friday night killed five people, including a professor and a family of three, and injured two children. The collision involved a Chevrolet S10 pickup, a Hyundai HB20 and a Volkswagen Gol, and emergency crews had to extract victims from the wreckage.

In a separate incident on Sunday morning in the Santíssimo district of Rio de Janeiro, a Renault Logan used as a rides‑hailing vehicle collided with a city bus on Avenida Brasil. Two occupants of the car were pronounced dead at the scene and a third passenger suffered minor injuries. Police investigations are ongoing for both accidents.
