DEAN & DELUCA launches Kumamoto recovery support project
DEAN & DELUCA, operated by Welcome Co., Ltd., has launched the ‘TASTES OF KUMAMOTO’ project to support the recovery of Kumamoto following the earthquake that occurred on July 28, 2026. The initiative aims to connect consumers with local producers and promote the region's culinary appeal through various events.
The project includes charity lunches in Fukuoka and Osaka featuring menus supervised by Executive Chef Tetsuya Sakai, which incorporate Kumamoto ingredients such as Higo Akaushi beef and local vegetables. Other planned activities include a pop-up store at Tsuruya Department Store in Kumamoto, a charity buffet at the Yurakucho store in October, and the ‘MEET LOCAL’ series, which highlights the stories of local producers.
A portion of the proceeds from the charity lunches, pop-up stores, and buffet events will be donated to Kumamoto City as relief funds. Additionally, the project seeks to provide ongoing support to local producers by featuring their ingredients and grocery products in DEAN & DELUCA markets.
