Dean Solomon anticipates interview in Essendon coaching race

Dean Solomon, who has been Essendon's interim coach since the club dismissed Brad Scott in May, said he is waiting for a "tap on the shoulder" as the senior coaching role is filled. He told club chief Tim Roberts to focus on the present while a conversation about his future is expected in the next few weeks.

Essendon have lost four consecutive games under Solomon, and former teammate James Hird has also entered the race. The club will interview between ten and fifteen candidates, and Solomon said his winless record would not affect his suitability for a permanent appointment.
