Dean Solomon to discuss full‑time Essendon coaching role

Essendon Football Club’s caretaker coach Dean Solomon will meet the club hierarchy next week for his first formal discussion about the permanent Bombers head‑coaching position. Solomon said “that time has come” and that the meeting will allow him to put forward his thoughts on the club’s future.

The club has narrowed the shortlist of external candidates to four former coaches – James Hird, Mark McVeigh, Jaymie Graham and Murray Davis – with the possibility that Solomon could join that group. In his interim spell, Solomon has won one of eight games, with the team losing seven of eight matches by large margins. The club is also searching for a new football manager after the resignation of Daniel McPherson.
