Dean Wilson suffers broken shoulder in practice crash

Dean Wilson has suffered a broken shoulder following a severe practice crash, which will sideline him for the remainder of the 2026 SuperMotocross (SMX) World Championship Playoffs. The Quad Lock Honda rider was preparing for the second playoff round in Carson, California, when a chain derailment occurred after he jumped a triple onto a tabletop, launching him violently over the handlebars.

The injury is a significant setback for Wilson, who is currently competing as a Wild Card rider in the SMX Playoffs. It also impacts his international standing; he currently sits second in the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) standings following a podium finish in Calgary. Additionally, the injury threatens his ability to defend his title in the upcoming Australian Supercross Championship, scheduled to begin in October.

Wilson is scheduled to meet with a specialist to determine the full extent of the injury and establish a recovery timeline.
