DeAndre Hopkins hired as Georgia Tech wide receivers coach

Former NFL star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, a five‑time Pro Bowler with 1,006 career receptions, completed a brief coaching stint with the New England Patriots during training camp. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said, “It was a great experience for all of us.”

Hopkins was then announced by Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key as the new assistant wide receivers coach. Key praised him, stating, “DeAndre is one of the greatest receivers of all‑time, but his value to our program goes far beyond that.” Hopkins will work under offensive coordinator George Godsey, who previously coached him with the Houston Texans. The move likely marks the end of Hopkins’ playing career, though he remains an unrestricted free agent.

Hopkins’ NFL résumé includes 13 seasons with the Texans, Cardinals, Titans, Chiefs and Ravens, totaling 13,295 receiving yards and 85 touchdowns. Georgia Tech will begin its 2026 season on Sept. 3, with Hopkins expected to mentor the Yellow Jackets’ wide receivers.
