DeAndre Hopkins explores coaching role with New England Patriots
Three-time All‑Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, a 34‑year‑old unrestricted free agent, spent the start of the New England Patriots’ training camp in Foxborough shadowing coaches and personnel staff. Head coach Mike Vrabel said Hopkins is “checking things out” as a potential coach or scout and is helping the offensive coaches, but is not undergoing a tryout for a roster spot.
Hopkins, who has played 13 NFL seasons for the Texans, Cardinals, Titans, Chiefs and Ravens and amassed 13,295 regular‑season receiving yards, previously worked with Vrabel on the Tennessee Titans in 2023. The Patriots, who recently added receiver A.J. Brown, are evaluating his experience to assist a young receiving corps that includes Drake Maye at quarterback.
