Dearborn police warn residents against attending upcoming council meeting

Dearborn police officials and the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) are urging residents to avoid attending the upcoming city council meeting on August 18. The warning comes following reports that outside agitators, including far-right influencer Jake Lang, may attend the meeting to provoke confrontations and generate attention.

Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin stated that law enforcement has an enhanced presence and a safety plan in place for the meeting. Shahin advised residents who do not have specific business before the council to stay home, noting that these groups often seek to provoke reactions. CAIR-MI echoed this sentiment, stating that engaging with such groups is best avoided to prevent mayhem and legal troubles for local youth.
