Dearica Hamby ejected after Flagrant 2 foul in Sparks-Sun game
Los Angeles Sparks forward Dearica Hamby was ejected from a game against the Connecticut Sun after being assessed a Flagrant 2 foul. The ejection occurred in the fourth quarter when Hamby’s elbow made direct contact with the face of rookie Raegan Beers during a battle for position near the basket.
Following the review, officials issued the Flagrant 2 foul, which carries an automatic ejection and a $1,000 fine under WNBA rules. Beers exited the game with a jaw injury. Hamby, who finished the game with 10 points and five rebounds, defended her actions on social media, stating that Beers had struck her in the stomach area immediately before the elbow contact occurred.
This incident marks Hamby’s first Flagrant 2 foul and first ejection of the season. Under league rules, additional flagrant fouls could lead to further disciplinary action, including potential suspensions.
