Deas launches major student cybersecurity hackathon in Palermo

Cybersecurity firm Deas has introduced ‘The Dfir Chronicles,’ a large-scale resident hackathon for students held in Palermo. The event, part of the Mondadori Academy Forum Orienta, takes place on October 28 and 29 at the ZISA cultural centers.

The hackathon features 32 teams of high school students tasked with analyzing and resolving two specific digital forensic scenarios within a set timeframe. The initiative, founded by entrepreneur Stefania Ranzato, aims to promote ‘white hat’ hacking—professionals who work to defend strategic national assets.

Approximately 5,000 students are expected to visit the exhibition area, providing an opportunity to engage with top-tier Italian hackers and bridge the gap between academic schooling and professional employment in the cyber ecosystem.
