Death metal scene highlights include Massacre history and Deth Provider digital release

The death metal genre continues to see significant retrospective and new releases. The band Massacre, a key figure in the Florida death metal scene, saw their album ‘From Beyond’ released in July 1991 via Earache Records. The album reflects the band's origins dating back to 1984, capturing a transition from early heavy metal and thrash into a more primitive, aggressive extreme sound characterized by Kam Lee’s distorted vocals and heavy riffs.

In the Bay Area, the death metal collective Deth Provider has released a digital edition of their self-titled debut album. Originally released on vinyl in June 2026 through Hectic Records and Bleeding Priest Records, the project evolved from songwriter Kenneth Dutton’s ideas into a supergroup. The nine-track album features a roster of veteran musicians, including Will Carroll of Death Angel on drums, and contributions from members of Exhumed, Molten, Insanity, Deathgrave, Ripped to Shreds, and Necrot.
