Death of 'Niño Guerrero' threatens Tren de Aragua across Latin America

U.S. officials say the presumed death of Héctor Guerrero Flores, known as “Niño Guerrero,” marks a warning to transnational criminal groups in the region. The Pentagon stated the incident sends a clear message to organized‑crime structures operating in Latin America.

Guerrero was identified as a leader of the Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan‑origin network that has expanded into Colombia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador and other countries. Analysts note that his removal could spark internal power struggles, heighten violence and prompt rival gangs to compete for the group’s illicit economies, especially in Chile where the organization is considered a major threat.
