Deb Haaland leads Gregg Hull in New Mexico governor race poll

Democratic nominee Deb Haaland is leading Republican nominee Gregg Hull in the New Mexico gubernatorial race, according to a poll by the Albuquerque Journal and Research & Polling. The poll shows Haaland at 49% and Hull at 42% among likely voters.

In a recent development, Haaland withdrew from the only scheduled general election debate on October 8 due to a scheduling conflict, leaving Hull to appear alone on the KOB-TV stage. Haaland stated she withdrew to honor a prior commitment meeting with the agricultural industry in southern New Mexico and claimed her campaign offered eight alternative dates that were rejected. Hull criticized the format, stating, “It should’ve been a debate,” noting the importance of addressing issues in front of a camera for the public.
