DeBarge brothers James and Chico arrested on drug charges in Burbank

James and Jonathan “Chico” DeBarge, members of the influential R&B musical family known for hits like “Rhythm of the Night,” were arrested in Burbank, California, following a late-night traffic stop.

Burbank police officers observed a Chevrolet Tahoe towing a Nissan SUV via a tow strap at approximately 1:30 a.m. on a Friday. Authorities noted that neither vehicle displayed license plates and neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt. During the stop, officers reported finding narcotics at the scene.

James DeBarge, 63, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. Chico DeBarge, 60, was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Chico was booked on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, though the specific nature of the warrant was not immediately disclosed. Both vehicles were impounded following the incident.
