Debbie Matenopoulos seeks US Ambassador role in Greece

Greek-American television personality Debbie Matenopoulos has launched a social media campaign to be considered for the position of United States Ambassador to Greece. Matenopoulos, a former co-host of ‘The View’, is seeking to replace Kimberly Guilfoyle.

She cites her deep cultural ties as primary qualifications, noting that Greek was her mother tongue before she learned English and that she holds a Greek passport. Matenopoulos also maintains residences in Greece and has business interests in the country, including a line of Greek cosmetics and two bestselling Greek cookbooks.

Regarding her professional background, Matenopoulos argues that her 30 years of experience in live television and over 10,000 hours of public speaking have prepared her for the communication demands of a diplomatic role. She noted that US ambassadors are often selected based on business success or political support rather than strictly diplomatic careers. She further claimed that acquaintances have already reached out to Donald Trump to promote her candidacy.
