Debibi United CEO criticizes GoldStars coach over pitch comments

Debibi United Chief Executive Officer Alexander Ababio has condemned remarks made by Bibiani GoldStars coach Petros Koukouras regarding the condition of the Debibi Presby Park playing surface.

Following a 1-0 defeat to Debibi United in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League, the Greek coach described the pitch as being more suitable for cassava farming than football. Ababio characterized these comments as reckless and unreasonable, urging the coach to focus on his professional responsibilities instead of making inappropriate statements.

The dispute occurs amid ongoing discussions regarding the quality of playing surfaces in Ghanaian football. Debibi United, a Premier League debutant, currently sits near the bottom of the league standings with 7 points after eight games.
