DEBRA Society completes pilot project for caregiver respite

The DEBRA Society, which supports individuals with epidermolysis bullosa, has concluded a pilot project titled ‘Odmor sa svrhom’ (Respite with Purpose). The initiative aimed to address the constant care requirements faced by families dealing with severe disabilities.

Involving 13 caregivers from Zagreb and surrounding counties, the project provided a total of 400 days of respite. Beyond physical care assistance, participants received support from a logotherapist and an ‘ART therapy box’ to help manage the emotional toll of long-term caregiving. The project highlights the necessity of regular breaks for parents who provide 24-hour care for children with complex medical needs.
