Debrecen Main Station to undergo feasibility study for major renovation

The Ministry of Transport and Investment has commissioned a feasibility study for the renovation of the Debrecen Main Station. According to Minister Dávid Vitézy, the project aims to rethink the station and its surroundings to create a modern transportation hub.

The study will evaluate the integration of rail, tram, and bus services, alongside P+R and B+R parking facilities. It will also explore connections to the airport, potential TramTrain services, and the city's new economic zones, ensuring the development aligns with Debrecen's future urban structure.

This study marks the first step in a process that includes design, public procurement, and eventual construction. Vitézy noted that this initiative is part of the Baross Gábor Railway Development Plan, which seeks to modernize stations and rolling stock to improve the competitiveness of public transport.
