Debrecen stabbing: Man arrested after two youths killed
A 64-year-old man, identified as András O., has been arrested following a fatal stabbing in Debrecen. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday on Múzeum Street, where the suspect allegedly attacked two young men with a knife.
According to police reports, the violence was preceded by a verbal altercation. The suspect was reportedly harassing a woman on the street when the two victims intervened to ask him to stop. In response, the man produced a knife and stabbed Zsolt Gy. in the chest and Martin D. in the abdomen. The 23-year-old victim, who worked as a waiter, has died.
András O., a repeat offender with a criminal record involving serious bodily harm and weapons charges, appeared in court on Monday. He reportedly showed no remorse during the proceedings. An investigating judge has ordered his detention. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to analyze camera footage and obtain forensic medical opinions. The suspect faces potential sentences ranging from ten to twenty years, life imprisonment, or death.
