Decathlon recalls climbing gear and electric scooters due to safety risks

Decathlon has issued a recall for several products due to safety risks, including climbing equipment and electric scooters. The Slovak Trade Inspection (SOI) has also issued a warning regarding these items.

Climbing gear from the brand Simond is affected, specifically five types of quickdraws (Alpinism 11 cm, Alpinism 17 cm, a 5-piece Alpinism set, Vertika 11 cm, and Vertika 17 cm). A manufacturing error in the riveting of the wire gate could cause the gate to break or the entire carabiner to crack during a fall. These products were sold between January 1, 2022, and July 23, 2026.

Additionally, two models of Btwin electric scooters (SD500E and MD500E) are being recalled. These models, sold between September 1, 2024, and June 15, 2026, may develop cracks at the joint between the frame and the handlebar stem, posing a risk of the joint breaking and causing the user to fall. Decathlon is offering full refunds for the climbing gear and free repair kits for the affected scooters.
